Mechatronics Engineering combines mechanics, electrical and software engineering disciplines with the principles of control and automation systems. Mechatronics engineers create and work with systems that have different degrees of automation, which is more and more a factor in everyday life with examples including robots, cars and CNC machines all with levels of computer control.

The Institutional Development Plan Vision 2017 UNACAR, in its axis two: ‘Consolidation of the educational model Acalán’, and axis three: ‘Strengthening of knowledge community’, sets as goals the strengthening and forming of graduate programs with orientation to regional and state level research and technological development where teaching and graduate programs are linked to the formation of strategic networks of knowledge at domestic and international level.

On the other hand, the existing technology nowadays demands engineering professionals to have highly specialized knowledge in a multidisciplinary framework to be able to approach and solve problems. At regional level there are several companies that provide products and services, which demand more and more skills from professionals who would like to be part of them.
In this context, the development of human resources at graduate level is greatly important, since it provides the necessary tools to develop high-level skills, which are critical both in production and research.

Training of master's students is organized according to institutional graduate policies that revolve around curricular flexibility with a strong accompaniment of tutors. This program will allow students to carry out their research work in an optimal manner, since its academic structure and infrastructure are based on the expertise and quality of the participating professors-researchers in the program.

One of the strengths of the Master's program is that its admission profile is in line with the graduation profile of the Educational Programs that are currently offered at the School of Engineering (Program headquarter) and the School of Information Sciences at UNACAR. In addition, there are other higher education institutions in the region that offer Educational Programs related to the admission profile required by this Master’s program.
